How to add extra storage to your bathroom
Bathrooms are spaces that can easily appear cluttered and disorganised, regardless of how big or small they are. Despite this, there are a few tips and tricks you can adopt to maximise the amount of storage space.
Drawers & Cabinets
A simple way to add extra storage to your bathroom is by incorporating more drawers or cabinets into the design. These can be built into the initial design or added at a later time as freestanding units. Drawers are an excellent closed storage option that hide your belongings from view, minimising visible clutter in the room.
Floating Shelves
Floating shelves are an excellent way to add extra storage to your bathroom. They make good use of vertical space that would otherwise have been overlooked. As they are installed at intervals up the wall, floating shelves also help to draw the eye upward. This creates the sense of a larger space.
Baskets
Baskets are a great storage option for bathrooms, especially those in rental homes. They provide a non-permanent solution that can be customised to suit your specific situation. Baskets are also highly functional and can be purchased in a range of shapes and sizes. A fantastic idea would be to keep a separate basket for each family member. They can be stacked in a tower or displayed on a floating shelf.
Under-sink space
It is an excellent idea to make use of under-sink storage space, especially in small bathrooms. This space is sometimes taken up by plumbing fixtures, however if it is free, it makes for a great place to store miscellaneous items such as hand towels, bath gels and hair dryers.
