What is PVD Tapware Finish?

PVD finish or coating, is short for Physical Vapour Deposition coating. It is a high-tech vacuum deposition process where the coating material transfers on a single atom or molecule level, which provides an extremely pure and high-performance coating.

Solid metal is vaporised in a high vacuum environment using a reactive gas such as nitrogen, oxygen or a hydrocarbon-based gas and the metallic vapour chemically reacts with the gasses. The vapour compound generated is deposited on electrically conductive materials as a pure metal or alloy coating.

PVD has increased in use and popularity in recent years as an alternative to electroplating, the PVD process is more environmentally friendly than electroplating and provides a more uniform deposit and improved adhesion. PVD coatings on tapware are used to enhance decorative appearance by providing a variety of colours and a beautiful finish as well as providing a protective barrier which increase wear resistance.

Discover new inFinium PVD decorative finishes available across the Brodware Tapware collection!

Brodware an Australian tapware and accessory manufacturing company have built there own high tech PVD processing plant which provide a rich selection of colours and textures to a broad collection of coordinated products, offering you the best of both worlds – the colours you want, with the long-lasting durability you need.

Embracing any imagination, decorative finish colours inspired by worldwide colour trends emerging at international design shows. This enables Brodware to customise and combine these finishes with products in a variety of ways to suit your needs and allow for multiple means of expression.

Brodware PVD finishes

InFinium PVD is an advanced PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) hard coating technique involving the transfer of metallic material at an atomic level. Resistant to scratching, tarnishing, abrasion, corrosion, UV radiation and discolouration, InFinium PVD also offers a high level of hardness and sets the benchmark on wear resistance.

NEW, REVOLUTIONARY, DURABLE, HARD COATINGS

inFinium PVD finishes are resistant to scratching, tarnishing, abrasion, corrosion and discolouration, offering a high level of hardness and setting the benchmark on wear resistance. Unlike powder coated and painted finishes, the colour in an InFinium PVD finish is molecularly bonded to the tap, becoming one with the metal itself. Powdercoat finishes are baked onto the tap, meaning they wear quickly and are prone to chipping, peeling and scratching, alternatively inFinium PVD finishes are approximately ten times more scratch-resistant than any other colour finishes.

inFinium PVD finishes are long-lasting with low maintenance and resistance to metallic corrosion, so they are perfect for residential, hotel or public bathrooms. Durability is a key advantage with your choice of inFinium PVD, a finish that you can choose with confidence and be sure it will last.

BEST OF ALL – THE PROCESS IS SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE AND CLEAN!

PVD is the most socially responsible and environmentally friendly finishing process. It is clean and dry, with no hazardous materials involved, and does not generate chemical waste or water pollution. The eco-friendly finishes are so inert and nontoxic that similar technology is used to coat knee and hip implants. Using inFinium PVD coatings on our brass base construction results in a long useful life, which results in a reduction in the amount of waste generated.
