Geberit Impuls Type 290 Outlet Valve
The Typ 290 is a direct replacement for the older Typ 280 model and fits exactly the same. A simple way to identify if you already have a Typ 290 is by checking the flush button on your cistern — it will be a round button with a small square button in the centre. The Typ 290 outlet valve includes a new chrome dual flush button for easy, efficient flushing. When replacing your existing valve, you may also need a close-coupled fixing kit and foam donut washer, which are sold separately. These components help ensure a proper seal between the cistern and the toilet pan.

For added convenience, you can opt for the Typ 290 Valve Set (Part No. 282.303.21.2), which includes the valve, donut seal, and fixing kit. This valve is a common replacement for Duravit and Villeroy & Boch back-to-wall toilet suites. The new dual flush valve is a perfect upgrade for existing Typ 280 and Typ 250 models, as it fits directly onto the original base inside the cistern. It features a sleek, bright chrome dual flush button that's been redesigned for smoother, more user-friendly operation. Specifically made for close-coupled cisterns, this valve is also available in a retrofit version to suit a variety of button hole sizes.

Typ 250 and Typ 280 valves can be upgraded to the Typ 290 without needing to replace the existing basket. However, Typ 260 is not compatible with the Typ 290. If you have a Typ 260, you’ll need to purchase a Typ 260 replacement valve or opt for a complete new valve and basket.

Replacing Other Valves – What to Check:

• Cistern Depth:
  – 325–465mm: use standard valve (Part No. 272.400.21.1)
  – 460–600mm: add extension part (243.430.00.1)

• Basket Type:
  – Close-coupled cisterns: basket is included with the valve
  – Linked cisterns: add basket part (241.825.00.1)

Note: If you're replacing a Typ 250 or Typ 280, the existing basket is compatible and can be reused.
